Support the work being done in Finland

Summer is approaching. Many low-income families have difficulty offering their children meaningful activities during the summer. They do not know how to cope with the costs of the holiday. Caritas Camp Support provides these families with financial relief. As summer approaches, the need for support is at its greatest.

“Camp support is important so that children and young people can get away from their home circles. For many children, a camp week is the only summer holiday event during the summer. When you help families with children, you give them a memorable camp experience,” says Caritas social counselor Hannele Liukkonen.

“At the Ursuline children’s camps, children who previously did not know each other quickly get to know each other and start playing together. From early morning to evening, the children have time for guided activities and a day of silence until Mass. Swimming seems to be their favorite free time. Meals are an important part of the daily routine, the menu for the camp week is healthy and varied,” recalls Liukkonen, who was a volunteer camp assistant. A few campers received Caritas camp support, which made the camp experience possible.

We are able to support the camps with donated funds. In 2023, we distributed support for the camp fees of 26 children. Last year, there were more requests for support, so your support is even more important!

A gift card brings Christmas spirit

At the end of the year, we need your support to provide gift cards to low-income families and single-person households.
Caritas provides gift cards to people who have been left out of other assistance:
• low-income families with children, for whom Christmas is a real extra expense
• elderly people or couples living alone, for whom a small financial support brings Christmas
• low-income families with older children, who are mainly immigrants

Your support will bring Christmas spirit to many families. With the gift card received with your support, families can buy Christmas food or gifts.
