Caritas is a small organization where volunteer work plays a significant role. Volunteers are essential, especially in organizing events, sales, and other fundraising activities. Any kind of expertise is valuable—from graphic design to charitable work and project planning.

Development cooperation volunteers plan and oversee the progress of development projects.
Caritas Ambassadors act as a link between Caritas Finland and Catholic parishes.
Volunteers in domestic work participate in events such as bazaars, assist with surplus food distribution, sort clothing, and help with office tasks based on their interests and availability.
YoungCaritas volunteers support domestic activities and organize workshops and visits in a dynamic and youthful group.

Why Do I Volunteer in Caritas?

The truth is that I had no intention of helping. I looked for Caritas more to get help and ended up getting involved. 😄
And what makes me stay is for two key reasons: integration and being helpful. When you go to help, you end up discovering that you are helped in the process too. This in all areas.

I have been volunteering with Caritas Finland since 2015 because Caritas works at the grassroots level with marginalized people. The organization also strives to be a voice for the voiceless and respects the dignity of every human being – values that I deeply share.
Volunteering with Caritas also brings me the joy of helping others and the sense of belonging to a community of like-minded people who want to be human for other human beings and make a difference.
